Seanchas Ardmhacha: Journal of the Armagh Diocesan Historical Society

Seanchas Ard Mhacha is a journal devoted to the publication of new research on the history of the Archdiocese of Armagh. Founded in 1953, it has been to the forefront of the renaissance in study in local historical studies in Ireland, and has established itself as a premier journal in this field. Articles are welcomed in English and Irish, and from various disciplines (history, literature and archaeology). To date, the journal has published important articles on the early Church in Armagh, the O'Neills and O'Hanlons, placenames and personal names in the archdiocese, the Irish abroad, the Flight of the earls and the troubles of 1918-23. The Journal also features a vigorous reviews section using eminent local scholars, and a chronicle of the Society's activities and wider news from the archdiocese.
